Abortion Archives is a SheDecides initiative celebrating the vibrant history of the abortion rights movement worldwide.
We preserve and activate collections of documents, photography, film and storytelling from activists, journalists, artists and political leaders worldwide.
We explore the movement's struggles, strategies and achievements in a simple and engaging way, in both physical and digital spaces.
Whether you are an artist in Managua or a student in New York, a health worker in Accra or a teacher in Manila - the right to safe abortion affects you.
Join us as we take the history of abortion rights across the world and closer to you.

Exhibition
Celebrating the history of Abortion Rights
Presented for the first time at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, this archival exhibition captures pivotal moments in the global movement for safe and legal abortion over six decades from 1970 to 2024.
Bringing together a powerful collection of photographs, posters, and artefacts, the exhibition explores the interconnected narratives of abortion rights advocacy through time and across diverse territories.
This collection showcases where the struggle for safe abortion takes place: in the home, on the streets, in hospitals and healthcare services, in civil society organizations, and in government. Recognizing the diverse experiences and contributions of those who came before us, the exhibition celebrates our collective victories and struggles, strengthening the global movement for abortion rights.
This is a pop-up exhibition by the movement for the movement; it folds and unfolds sparking reflection and discussion on the future of abortion rights. Following the movement of the Green Wave, it is assembled and disassembled carrying its current to different territories.
