Lucía Pérez Gómez (she/her), Vice-President for External Affairs

As the Vice President of External Affairs of IFMSA, I am committed to and aligned with the values of SheDecides, where advocating for the rights of women and girls is not just a priority but an imperative. My work focuses on promoting an inclusive approach that acknowledges the diverse realities faced by women and girls around the world. By championing bodily autonomy, we are not only empowering women but also laying the groundwork for a more equitable and healthy society.

Ángelo Estéfano Moreno Ramos (he/him)

President

As President of IFMSA, I am committed to creating more just and equitable spaces for everyone, with a special focus on the rights of women and girls. Through our initiatives, we work to ensure that all voices are heard and respected, creating policies that support gender equity and inclusion.

How we are working so SheDecides

As future health professionals and leaders, working for bodily autonomy is essential at all levels of action: local, national, regional, and international. For IFMSA, bodily autonomy not only represents a fundamental right that must be preserved and defended, but it is also something to fight for every day. Moreover, alongside its defence, we consider education on this issue to be crucial, as knowledge is vital for making informed decisions.

SRHR Advocacy Workshop

The SRHR Advocacy Workshop is a capacity-building initiative by IFMSA aimed at training future health professionals in advocacy for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. The workshop empowers participants with skills to engage in advocacy actions in their communities, including policy formulation, partnership building, and participation in decision-making spaces. Now in its 6th edition, the workshop has already seen participation from over 250 medical students from more than 60 national member organisations worldwide.

IFMSA Policy Documents related to SRHR

IFMSA has Policy Documents that reflect its stance on issues related to health, education, social justice, and youth. Among these, those concerning SRHR topics stand out, such as access to safe abortion and comprehensive sexuality education. As a youth organisation, our participation in decision-making spaces is essential, and our voices must be heard.

Capacity-Building Initiatives at the Regional Level

Considering the priorities of each region within IFMSA, various capacity-building initiatives related to SRHR are carried out, including the IFMSA Asia-Pacific SRHR Summer School, IFMSA SCORA Africa Bootcamp, and the IFMSA European Conference on Sexuality Education, the IFMSA SCORA Wings Americas, among others. Through these initiatives, hundreds of students are trained in various areas such as maternal health, access to abortion, and the elimination of gender-based violence, enabling them to continue working in their communities.
